Research & Development

Telluric Land Remediation has been awarded significant funding for the development of an innovative new product for in-situ bioremediation.  The £100,000 research & development project is being supported by the Welsh Assembly Government’s Single Investment Fund through the Convergence European Regional Development Fund. The resulting technology promises huge market potential throughout the UK and internationally.  The product is a liquid formulation that can be injected into the ground to facilitate the biological degradation of a range of chemical contaminants, for example chlorinated solvents. Contaminants such as trichloroethene were widely used as degreasing agents in the metal working industries and, to a lesser extent, in the dry cleaning industry. They are known to be highly toxic both to human health and the wider environment.

Gasworks Remediation

Telluric Land Remediation Ltd was responsible for the design and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for the remediation of a former gasworks in North Yorkshire. Soils heavily contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, polyaromatic hydrocarbons and phenols were excavated and treated on site using ex-situ bioremediation. Grossly contaminated groundwater and free phase floating oil were removed by pumping from the excavations to a temporary water treatment plant installed on the site. Remediation targets were achieved after approximately 12 weeks and the site is now subject to residential development.
