Soil vapour extraction

Soil vapour extraction (SVE) is an in-situ technology which is particularly useful for removing volatile organic compounds from permeable soils. A negative pressure is applied to the ground which results in enhanced volatilisation of lower molecular weight organic contaminants and removal from the ground. The application of the process is site specific, the spacing and type of vapour extraction wells and selection of vacuum pumps depending on subsurface conditions.
